Lurking still

So after gamecon I have been laying low just kinda taking a break from the world of Miniatures for a little while. However last night I built my first Dark Eldar Raider for fun (sexy kit) and now Im gonna paint my first Warmachine model (one of the cryx bonejacks). Im horrible about keeping you guys updated but then again im just horrible in general. Been kinda a bad week anyway, what with getting one night standed and whatnot. Alas, my bonejack awaits, let me see what I can do with it. In theory I will be updating this post later with pics and insights into my bonejack. Stay tuned.

I'm Goin to Vegas!

So it's official, due to low turnout for Gamecon Spokane, at the end of the first three round of play the winners of the golden tickets are assured. So even though I get to go and play all day tomorrow my golden ticket is locked in, I'm going to Vegas baby! There is still a lot of work to be done and some major reworking to my list before I get there, but I'm goin for sure. Anyway I just figured I would make a quick post about that because Im excited, now to get some sleep before day 2.

Post Dorkocalypse!

So last night's Dead Gentlemen Dorkness Rising/ Journeyquest double feature was a success. Lots of good publicity for the girls between the booth and the Dead Gentlemen themselves bringing the girls up on stage for the opening ceremonies. It was a fun night that was for sure... Of course it didn't leave much time for painting. But it's ok I did make some progress... Every model in my Warriors of Chaos army is built and ready to be primed and painted. Aaron and I will have two whole days of nothing but painting to work on the army and I'll have all week so it seems almost doable... Almost.Of course we are having a fundraising bake sale at Gamecon which seems like it's going to be a great money maker... I mean come on, gamers in a big room with junk food and cake? Sounds like a recipe for SUCCESS.

Naturally I wore my least flattering hoodie... It's how I roll.
Yup its a shortun for today, tune in next time as my panic grows as Gamecon draws near... Should be entertaining to say the least...

Work work work work work!

My new boss, Anora K.
So it most certainly has been an interesting week for me, that is for sure. With Gamecon only a week away I have been trying to get as much done on my Warriors of Chaos as I can in my limited free time. What that means is I only had time to build my 10 marauder horsemen. So this coming up week is going to be a crazy building/ painting fest in attempt to paint 30 some Chaos Warriors, 10 Marauder horsemen, build and paint my Chariot, finish my second warshrine and paint both warshrines. Should be no problem right?

So where has all my free time gone? Well, dear reader (all like ten of you) I recently acquired a new job. So now, on top of working full time for my good friends at Winco, I'm also playing coordinator for the D20 girls project. Which is an awesome job that I'm hoping will lead to even more awesome jobs. But in the meantime I have very little time to build and paint.

The best part is that not only do we have a booth at this weekend's midnight showing of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, but we also have a booth at Gamecon. So even while I'm playing in the WFB GT, I'll be working with the D20 girls and running around like a chicken with my head chopped off. But it's fun for me, I love high stress situations, get's me firing on all pistons.

Anyway I figured I'd keep you updated on the world of the Jenn, I'll try and take some pictures of this coming week if I have time. That's it for today, I'm off to build me a chariot!

Someone has been painting!

Aaron, my painting pimp
So it's been a busy week for me, between work, and working on getting in with the D20 Girls (more on that in a moment) I haven't had much time for modeling/ painting/ playing. Today I had an opportunity to get some work done on my Warriors of Chaos in preparation for Gamecon. (which is only two weeks away I gotta get my ass in gear) My good friend Aaron and I went out to Gamers Haven today where we both worked on getting my Fantasy army painted. I realized that there is no way I'm getting this whole army done with my work schedule by the 15th so I hijacked him to help me work. Yes another person is helping me paint my army, but you know what... I'm lazy and I want to play.

Anyway we made some progress today, we got the majority of this guy to the right's cloak done which was my first experiment with starting with orange and working my way to red (instead of starting with red and working to violet as I do normally) I have one last step to get him "finished" that will be drybrushing his cape to be more orange and stand out a bit more. Going forward I am gonna work on not letting the yellow dominate the upper back as much and making the red more apparent at the bottom. The main problem I am running into is that the purple and blue are just dominating the area around them.

Here is the front side of the model featuring some of Aaron's brushwork. I apologize for the blurry photo btw, my hands are very shaky today because of my high caffiene intake. Making my images sub-optimal... Soon I will work on getting a decent place to take pictures and putting out some decent pictures at that. Anyway my goal with the front of my warriors is to make it so they are nothing special from the front, I want the attention to go to their cloaks since that is the primary theme of my army.  I am letting Aaron handle the majority of the fronts from here forward in order to get the army done.
Here are two more warriors he worked on today... the painting he did on the shields isn't as apparent in these pics as I would like but they look fantastic. My pictures deffinitely don't do them justice. I still need to work on the cloaks for these guys, the guy on the left's cloak will start with blue and the guy on the right's will be another orange. The idea will be that the cloaks of each rank will start with a differnent color at the beginning in order to make the unit appear t be a rainbow from above. (hence the seven ranks deep unit)
The guy on the right here is the main thing I worked on today, getting his banner and cloak painted. He will end up being my unit standard bearer (the one on the right being the BSB) the skull isn't done yet but will be painted in a similar style to the first model I showed you.

Finally here are the queens standing side by side all finished. The bases still need a little bit more paint but they look awesome in person at the moment. Anyway that is where I am at right now, Aaron and I will be making a lot more progress over the coming weeks and I will try and keep you posted as we go. Let me know what you think, also, let me know how you like this new posting format that I proudly stole from Brent. I promise I will get you better pictures in the future.
